The Drive-By Scene

Near the very start of the movie, a scene occurs where Eva's father is relaxing on the front porch while right across the road, a friend of his is washing his car. A moment later, a silver car comes along and one of the cars occupants shoots the man. Then, Eva's dad rushes to try and help his friend, but fails. Supposedly the next day, police arrive at Eva's house and arrests her father, apparently for no reason, leading some to believe he was framed.
